BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Already with two All-America honors under her belt, Lehigh women's lacrosse senior Lauren Dykstra added a third on Monday when she was named an Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-American. Named to the third team, Dykstra was one of 51 players in the nation honored (17 per team). In the process, she becomes Lehigh's first IWLCA All-American since Jill Altshuler in 1996 and the first from the Patriot League since Colgate's Angela Chongris in 1997.

The IWLCA will honor the National All-Americans at the IWLCA All-American banquet on June 11, 2011 at the Crowne Plaza Valley Forge in King of Prussia, Pa.

Dykstra is one of only nine student-athletes honored outside of the ACC, ALC, Big East and Ivy League. She joins two from Stanford (MPSF), William & Mary (CAA) and Albany (America East), and one each from UMass (Atlantic 10) and James Madison (CAA). Dykstra is the sixth Lehigh women's lacrosse player all-time to be honored with IWLCA National All-America laurels, joining Altshuler (1995-96), Liz Brode (1994-95), Sue Coursen (1984-85), Missy Miller (1985) and Karyn Yost (1984).

Having also garnered All-America laurels from WomensLax.com and Synapse Sports, Dykstra has continued to rack in the postseason honors. A four-time All-Patriot League performer, she won her fourth major award in as many seasons in 2010, earning Midfield Player of the Year. This came after winning Rookie of the Year as a freshman, Offensive Player of the Year as a sophomore and Defensive Player of the Year as a junior.

Dykstra finished her storied career with a Lehigh and Patriot League record 257 career goals, which stands sixth most in NCAA history. That earned her a mention in Sports Illustrated's “Faces in the Crowd” last month. After posting 79, 75 then 62 points in her first three seasons, Dykstra went off her senior year for a career-high 86 points via 72 goals and 14 assists. Her 4.24 goals per game led the nation while her goal total stood third best. She was also fifth nationally with her 86 points and second in points per game (5.06).

Also strong defensively, Dykstra finished third on the Mountain Hawks in, groundballs (33), draw control (33) and caused turnovers (20). This, while covering one of the opposition's top offensive players. She posted a point in all 69 career games, scoring a goal in 68 of them. She ended her career riding an impressive 49-game goal streak.
