Dykstra named a Synapse Sports First Team All-American

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh women's lacrosse senior Lauren Dykstra has earned her second national All-America honor as on Sunday night, she was named a Synapse Sports First Team All-American. In total, the website selected 48 All-Americans across three teams (first, second and third). One of only 16 players in the nation to crack the first team, Dykstra was the only Patriot Leaguer to be selected for the elite list.

This marks the second straight season Dykstra has received All-America laurels from the website. Formally WomensLacrosse.com, she was named a Second Team All-American a year ago.

In total, eight of the 16 first-team members came from the ACC, followed by five from the ALC. The Big East and America East also placed one on the first team. Seven of the 16 came from the two teams who played in Sunday's National Championship Game - four from runner-up Maryland and three from champion Northwestern.
The honor marks Dykstra's second national All-America recognition, just three days after being named a WomensLax.com All-American. Dykstra was also named IWLCA First Team All-Region and is now eligible for IWLCA All-America honors, which is set to be released on Monday.
Dykstra finished her storied career with a Lehigh and Patriot League record 257 career goals, which stands sixth most in NCAA history. After posting 79, 75 then 62 points in her first three seasons, Dykstra went off her senior year for a career-high 86 points via 72 goals and 14 assists. Her 4.24 goals per game led the nation while her goal total stood third best. She was also fifth nationally with her 86 points and second in points per game (5.06).
A four-time All-Patriot League performer, Dykstra garnered four major Patriot League Awards in as many seasons - Rookie of the Year, Offensive Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year and Midfield Player of the Year.
