BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Freshman Brian Suchoski was named the Patriot League men's soccer Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday. Suchoski had a career week as he led Lehigh to a 2-0 record with wins over Albany and Holy Cross. The Bear Creek Township, Pa. native netted his first-career goal Tuesday and followed that up with his first-career game-winning goal on Saturday.
Then in a 4-1 win at Holy Cross, Suchoski scored the game-winning goal when he found the back of the net in the 42nd minute. His goal was the second of the game for Lehigh but it was the difference maker after Holy Cross came back just two minutes later to get on the board right before halftime. Suchoski was part of an offense that scored its highest goal total of the season and the most since it scored four goals on October 30th, 2009.
Suchoski has now collected at least one point in three consecutive matches. He has five points on the season as he had an assist against Navy on October 15th. Suchoski also had a career-high five shots in that match against Navy as the freshman has registered at least one shot in Lehigh's past five games while six of his nine shots on goal have come in the previous four games. The Mountain Hawks have scored eight goals in three games.
Suchoski and the Mountain Hawks will look to keep the momentum going when they take the pitch Saturday against American at 1 p.m. in a match that could determine first place in the Patriot League.
