BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Coming off a crucial Patriot League victory over Navy on Saturday, the Lehigh men's soccer team will look to keep the momentum going when hosts Albany in a non-league match Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at the Ulrich Sports Complex. The Mountain Hawks are unbeaten at home this year (3-0-3) and have only lost one-non league match which was back on August 31st.
Lehigh kept the pressure on and right before halftime, Neal Melchionni played a ball up to Puleo who took a few parallel dribbles before finding space on the 18-yard box and connected with his right foot for his third goal of the season.
The offensive effort combined with Lehigh's eight shutout of the season and Lehigh now sits in a three-way tie for second place in the Patriot League standings with seven points.
The Mountain Hawks will be taking on an Albany team that currently sits sixth in the America East with three points. While the Great Danes are last in their conference in total shots (138), they make the most of their chances as they are first in the league in goals per game (1.31). Albany is led by Quintel Gates who leads the team with 13 points (5 goals, 3 assists) while Pomare Te Anau is close behind with 11 points (4 goals, 3 assists).
On the defensive side, Albany is led by keeper Adrian Foncette who ranks second in the America East in saves (4.91 per game) and saves percentage (.818).
It will be just the second meeting between the two schools. Lehigh and Albany first met in 2000 which resulted in a 1-1 draw.
The Mountain Hawks return to conference action when they travel to take on Holy Cross this Saturday at 3 p.m.
Tuesday night's match will streamed LIVE on Lehighsports.com.
