BETHLEHEM, Pa. – If there were ever any doubts about Greg Angelo's recovery from the injury that caused him to miss most of last year they were answered on Sunday, as the senior co-captain tossed a no-hitter to help Lehigh earn a series sweep of its archrival Lafayette. Behind Angelo's strong performance the Mountain Hawks won game one 2-0 and came from behind in game two to earn a 6-3 win. Lehigh, who has now won six straight games, picks up its first series sweep over the Leopards since 2002. The Brown and White is now 14-16 (6-2) overall, and Lafayette drops to 6-21 (2-6) after the losses.

"A no-hitter is a total team effort and I just tried to go out and hit my spots," Angelo said. "Lafayette was hitting the ball well, but we were really solid defensively. I'm really proud of the way the entire team competed. I have to give credit to my catcher Chad Warga for fighting through the pressure with me. The pressure was on his shoulders just as much as it was on mine."

Head coach Sean Leary commented on Angelo's performance, "Greg was outstanding today. His fastball had tremendous movement and the defense responded well behind him."

The Mountain Hawks got all the offense they needed in the fourth, as junior Billy Goldman led off the inning with a walk. After a stolen base by Goldman, his classmate Logan Winchester knocked him in with a single to left field. Winchester was able to advance to second on the throw to the plate and junior Kevin Mihalik gave the Mountain Hawks a 2-0 advantage when he singled to left field.

Angelo baffled the Lafayette hitters as he pitched all seven innings and struck out four to earn his third win of the season. The last time a Lehigh pitcher threw a no-hitter was in 1988 by Steve Lyons '89 in a 14-0 win over Coppin State.

Lehigh only had four hits of its own in the game, but it was all Angelo needed. Taking the loss for the Leopards was John Gentile.

In game two, the Leopards were able to strike first, as A.J. Miller hit a deep two-run home run to right field. Lehigh starter, junior Mike Lebo was able to settle in after the second and shut Lafayette down.

The Mountain Hawks were able to respond in the bottom of the fourth when Mihalik doubled to left center to score Winchester and junior Andrew Russell. With the game tied in the bottom of the fifth, junior Billy Goldman singled in his classmate Brendan McGaheran to make the score 3-2.

Lehigh added three more runs in the bottom of the sixth and its bullpen would come into close out the game. Freshman Brandon Sady pitched 2.1 innings and after he got into trouble in the ninth, sophomore Cory Kent came into earn the save.

Picking up the win in game two was Lebo (2-2), who scattered six hits, giving up two runs and striking out three. Mihalik and Goldman each had two hits to provide the offense for Lehigh.

"I'm really excited for the seniors," Leary commented about the wins. "They've persevered through so much and to come out and sweep Lafayette is special."

Leary continued talking about the upcoming week, "I told the guys to enjoy it for a few days and then we have to start preparing for Army. This week will allow the entire team to catch up on some rest."

The Mountain Hawks have no mid-week games scheduled and won't return to action until Saturday in West Point, N.Y. against the Black Knights. The first game will get underway at noon on Saturday.
