Lehigh men's soccer duo earns NSCAA All-Region honors

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh placed a pair of student-athletes on the NSCAA Mid-Atlantic All-Region team, announced Thursday. Junior Kevin Strunk earned a spot on the first team while senior captain James Graf earned third team honors. The duo helped Lehigh to an 8-8-2 mark this season and a second straight appearance in the Patriot League tournament.
Strunk, the 2010 Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year and a first team All-Patriot League selection, anchored a Lehigh defense that allowed 18 goals this season, the fewest allowed in the league by a team that reached the tournament.
The Downingtown, Pa. native started all 18 games in central defense and led the Mountain Hawks with 1,673 minutes played. Strunk also contributed to Lehigh's attack out of the back, as he tied for the team lead with three assists.
Graf, a three-time All-Patriot League selection, earns the first All-Region nod of his career. Injuries limited Graf to just 13 games, but he made the most of his appearances, tying for second on the team with three goals and ranking fourth on the Mountain Hawks with six points.
A Schwenksville, Pa. native, Graf began the season as Strunk's partner in central defense, but saw more action in the midfield upon returning from injury. A three-time Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week in 2010, Graf's offensive efforts keyed a critical league win over American as he returned from injury to head home the game-winning goal in the 75th minute.
With Strunk and Graf's laurels Lehigh has now had a NSCAA Mid-Atlantic All-Region selection in 15 straight seasons, and the Mountain Hawks have now had two All-Region performers in each of the last three seasons.
A total of 13 Patriot League men's soccer student-athletes were named to the NSCAA All-Region teams.
