BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Patriot League has released game times for the men's soccer semifinals, which features second seeded Lehigh against No. 3 American this Friday at 8 p.m. The entire league tournament will be played in Hamilton, N.Y. The Mountain Hawks' game follows a 5 p.m. showdown between host Colgate and defending champion Bucknell.
This marks the second straight season that Lehigh has qualified for the Patriot League Tournament. After dropping the league opener at Colgate, the Mountain Hawks responded by posting a 4-0-1 record over their next five league games. Lehigh finished the season in sole possession of second place with 13 points, two ahead of American and Bucknell who tied for third.
Lehigh and American faced one another on Oct. 23, a 2-1 Mountain Hawk victory. After the Eagles score less than a minute into the game, Lehigh bounced back with senior James Graf's second-half header accounting for the game-winning goal.
The Mountain Hawks are making their 13th Patriot League Tournament appearance overall, ninth in the last 11 years and 11th in the past 14 seasons. Lehigh looks for its first Patriot League Tournament Championship since 2000. It did advance to the title game from 2002-04, but fell to Holy Cross, Lafayette and American in those three seasons.
The winner of Friday's match will face either Colgate or Bucknell in the Patriot League Championship Game on Sunday at 1 p.m. with the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament on the line. The Mountain Hawks are looking to make their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2006.
