Bethlehem, PA – The Lehigh women’s lacrosse program has added Jill Redfern to the coaching staff as an assistant coach. This is Redfern’s second stint at Lehigh as an assistant coach.
Redfern comes back to Lehigh after last serving as head coach at Lafayette, where she was named the Patriot League’s Coach of the Year in 2000. Prior to become the Leopards head coach, she served as an assistant at Lehigh, Drexel, and Lafayette.
Prior to her accomplishments in coaching, Redfern was a standout player on both the collegiate and international levels. While playing collegiately at Ursinus, she was a two-time Division III All-American. Redfern was a member of Ursinus’ 1986 national championship team, and was named the MVP of the NCAA Tournament. After graduating, she competed on the US National Team form 1987-93.
Redfern is the third new addition to the Lehigh coaching staff this season. Judy Baxter returns to the Mountain Hawks after being the head coach from 1978-85. Kristin McGrath will serve as an Administrative Assistant. The additions make assistant coach Olivia Long the senior member of the coaching staff. Long enters her third season as a Lehigh assistant.
The Mountain Hawks and their revamped coaching staff will kick off the 2003 season on February 22 when they travel to Mt. St. Mary’s for the season opener.
