George Washington answered right back, scoring two of their own. However Lehigh got hot and took a commanding 7-2 lead going into the intermission. George Washington attempted to rally early in the second half, but their attempts were shut down as Lehigh's offense continued to fire shots between the posts.
Being sick with the stomach flu did not stop Strohm from leading Lehigh's offensive attack. The senior found the back of the net three times and record an assist in the victory. Sophomore Meredith Batcha also played strong on the offensive end adding two goals to the cause. The Colonials' Heidi Mayer recorded four of their six goals to lead all scores. Sophomore Vanessa Abbott continued to play strong in the net as she recorded 11 saves on 23 George Washington shots.
Head coach Jackie Keeley was pleased with how her team turned things around. " We were coming off a really difficult week of practice, because our last outing was so disappointing and I was thrilled that we made the adjustments and improvements that were necessary," said Keeley. "Our play was more up tempo and aggressive, allowing us to generate a lot of good opportunities. Sue Scholle and Rosie Sherry really stepped up today. Kristin's (Strohm) performance was amazing considering she was in bed with the flu last night and Vanessa (Abbott) did a really nice job in goal," added Keeley.
