Mountain Hawks return home to face Army

Lehigh returns to fan friendly Stabler Arena to begin a brief two-game home stand as the Mountain Hawks host Army Friday night. Lehigh recently wrapped up a four-game road trip with a 2-2 mark, giving the second place Mountain Hawks a two-game edge in the standings heading into the weekend over No. 3 Army and Colgate. However, Army has won two of three since that time, thanks in large part to the play of freshman Cara Enright, who scored 34 points last time out.

Lehigh (15-7, 7-2 Patriot League) snapped a two-game skid with a 12-point win at Bucknell on Sunday. Senior guard Mary Frances Hynoski scored a career-high 20 points, while pulling down ten rebounds in the victory. The double-double was her fifth of the season.

Army enters Friday night’s contest with a 12-10 overall record and a 5-4 mark in the Patriot League. The Black Knights have won two of their last three games in the league since last meeting Lehigh, and they begin a four-game road trip with tonight’s contest. Freshman Cara Enright has been terrific of late, averaging twenty points over the last two games. The seven time Patriot League Rookie of the Week is contributing a team-high 13.4 points per contest.

When these two teams met two weeks ago, Lehigh eanred an eight-point victory in West Point. Lehigh senior Mary Hynoski scored a then-career high 17 in the win. Thanks to last month’s eight point road victory, the Mountain Hawks evened the all-time series between these two schools at 17 wins apiece. Lehigh has captured the last seven regular season meetings. The two teams have met in the opening round of the Patriot League tournament in each of the last three seasons, with Army winning two of those three games.

Army last won in Stabler Arena in 1998.
