Mountain Hawks resume road swing with trip to Colgate

Lehigh is back on the road for game three of a four-game road swing as the Mountain Hawks visit Colgate Friday night. Lehigh is looking to get back on the winning track after a tough 71-68 loss at Holy Cross on Sunday. Meanwhile, the Raiders are on a roll having won their last three league games after starting Patriot League play with an 0-4 mark. The Raiders have not lost since the Mountain Hawks handed Colgate a 13-point defeat at Stabler Arena in Lehigh has posted a 6-1 Patriot League record through the first half of league play. With seven games remaining, the Mountain Hawks enter tonight’s tilt with a two-game lead over third place Army in the standings. At the end of the regular season, the top two seeds earn the right to host the first two rounds of the league’s postseason tournament on their respective home floors.
Colgate enters Friday night’s match-up with a 7-13 overall record and a 3-4 mark in Patriot League play. However, the Raiders have come on strong of late to win their last three Patriot League games. Patriot League co-Preseason Player of the Year Emily Braseth has led the resurgence, averaging 15.7 points and 7.4 rebounds per game for the season. During the current win streak she has averaged 22 points and 7.7 rebounds per outing.
In last month’s meeting, three Mountain Hawks scored in double figures as Lehigh dropped the Raiders by a 72-59 score at Stabler Arena. Sara Ellis led all scorers with 24 points in the win. That night, senior captain Carli Toliver became Lehigh’s all-time leader in three-point field goals.
Colgate leads the all-time series between these two schools, 20-14. Last season, the eventual league champ won both meetings, and overall the Raiders had won five of the last six match-ups between the schools until the Mountain Hawks victory two weeks ago. Lehigh head coach Sue Troyan has posted a career 14-8 record against Colgate in nine-plus seasons.
