Lehigh takes to the road for game two of a four-game road swing as the Mountain Hawks visit Holy Cross in a Sunday matinee that represents a showdown of the league’s only two remaining unbeaten teams. Lehigh is off to its best-ever Patriot League start, while the Crusaders survived a grueling non-league schedule and have returned to their familiar perch atop the league standings. The two squads have split the season series in each of the last three seasons, with the road team winning four of those six games. The winner of this game will have completed the first half of the season with an unblemished league mark, while the other will have at least a two-game lead for the highly-coveted second spot in the standings for the postseason tournament (top two seeds have home court in the league’s postseason tournament). Last time out, Lehigh (14-5 overall, 6-0 Patriot League) picked up an eight point win at Army thanks to four Mountain Hawks scoring in double figures. Mary Frances Hynoski posted a career best 17 points to lead the way, while Jenny Callan registered her second straight double-double – including a career high 16 rebounds. Holy Cross enters Sunday afternoon’s contest with an 11-8 overall record and a perfect 6-0 mark in the Patriot League. The Crusaders survived a very difficult non-league docket (including UConn, Duke, DePaul, among others), and have rebounded in league play. Holy Cross senior center Lisa Andrews has had a terrific season, scoring over 12 points and pulling down more than five rebounds per game. As a team, the Crusaders lead the league from three free throw line, shooting at a 73.6% clip. Holy Cross has dominated the all-time series between the two schools, winning 29 of the 33 previous meetings. However, Lehigh has split with the Crusaders in each of the last three seasons. Three years ago, the Mountain Hawks won a double-overtime thriller at Stabler Arena. In 2003, Lehigh ended Holy Cross’ 55-game home league winning streak.
