Bethlehem, PA – Lehigh (9-4-1, 3-1 Patriot League) remained atop the NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Region for a second straight week, after shutting out the region’s seventh ranked team, Bucknell. Despite the performance, however, the Mountain Hawks dropped one place, to No. 18, in the NSCAA National Rankings. Freshman midfielder Adam Williamson has been named the Patriot League’s Rookie of the Week after assisting on the game-winning goal against the Bison.
Williamson fed All-American senior Evan Bruno for the game’s only score with less than six minutes to play. On the season, Williamson is second on the team to Bruno, with four assists. He leads all Lehigh freshmen with six points.
"Adam played very well against Bucknell," head coach Dean Koski observed. "He gave Bucknell a lot of trouble on offense, but he also played great defense, and that can’t be overlooked. He’s had an outstanding season for us."
The assist propelled the Mountain Hawks to their seventh straight victory. The frosh has also played a vital role as Lehigh has held five of its last six opponents scoreless, while permitting only single goal over the last 586:36.
"We’re just happy to be ranked," Koski remarked. "We’re just going to keep doing what we need to do to win, with the focus being on the Navy game Friday."
Senior Ryan Grzeszczak stopped four Bucknell shots to pick up his career shutout number 23, a Patriot League record.
The Mountain Hawks return to action on Friday when they travel to Annapolis, Maryland for to square off against Navy in a Patriot League contest. Game time is set for 7:00.
