Mountain Hawks win third straight

Bethlehem, PA – Freshman Adam Williamson was credited for a goal after the ball deflected off a St. Joe’s (6-2, 1-0 Atlantic 10) defender to give Lehigh a lead it would never surrender en route to the Mountain Hawks (5-4-1, 1-1 Patriot League) third straight win.
Defense was the theme of the first half, with neither team mounting many opportunities to get on the board. Then, at the 42:22 mark, the Brown & White received a welcome gift from the Hawks. Williamson attempted a shot that caromed off a St. Joe’s defender and into the back of the goal, putting the Mountain Hawks up 1-0. The score was the first goal of Williamson’s collegiate career.
The score remained that way until only :49 remained in the game. Junior forward Doug Cusick fired a rocket past St. Joe’s goalkeeper Kevin Dougher to end the scoring for the evening.
Ryan Grzeszczak picked up his third shutout of the season, and Lehigh career-best 20th of his career, making two saves in net. Dougher picked up six saves on the evening, but came away with the loss.
"We came out pretty flat in the first half," head coach Dean Koski said. "We were lucky to go into halftime up 1-0 with a goal we didn’t really earn. We were a little better in the second half, but we just didn’t finish on any of our opportunities. St. Joes’s did well to hang around after the first goal and stay in the game."
The Mountain Hawks will look four number four in a row on Friday when they travel to West Point, NY to take on the Black Knights of Army. The Patriot League contest is set to kick off at 7:00.
