All-American Bruno returns for senior year

Lehigh forward Evan Bruno has a unique distinction amongst his Patriot League counterparts. The senior is the league’s only returning All-American.
Last season, Bruno added NSCAA third team All-American status to his resume, after being named to both the Patriot League and Mid-Atlantic Region first teams. Despite missing two games with an injury, Bruno still outscored all other Patriot League players to win his second straight scoring crown. Then a junior, Bruno notched nine goals, 23 points, 0.6 goals per game, and 1.53 points per game, all of which were league bests.
As a sophomore in 2000, Bruno was named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year, finishing 11th in the nation with 2.00 points per game. The forward’s 18 goals and 42 points topped the Patriot League scoring leaders that season, as well. Those numbers gained him status on the Mid-Atlantic Region’s First Team. He also played a vital role in leading the Mountain Hawks to the 2000 NCAA Tournament.
In 2002, Bruno will try to remain one of the nations best, as well as make the Patriot League and Mid-Atlantic teams for a third straight year, and help the team get back to the NCAA’s.
"Evan has worked hard to establish himself as not only one of the top forwards in the Patriot League, but also one of the top 10 forwards in the nation. I couldn't be more proud of what Evan has contributed to this team and look forward to coaching him for another year," head coach Dean Koski said.
Bruno was the first Lehigh men’s soccer player to gain All-American status since Kyle Boschen in 1989. Boschen was also named to the third team.
Lehigh opens the 2002 season when it travels to West Point, NY to take on Davidson on Friday, August 30 in the Lehigh/Army Soccer Classic. Game time is set for 5:00 pm.
