Easton, PA – Steve Fisher’s unassisted goal in the 118th minute gave Lehigh (2-1) its second straight win at Metzgar Field as the Mountain Hawks defeated St. Francis (PA) 1-0 in double overtime at the Lafayette Invitational on Friday evening. The last time Lehigh played at Metzgar the Mountain Hawks defeated Lafayette in the Patriot League Championship game last November. St. Francis fell to 0-3-1 overall with the loss.
"Tonight’s game was a hard fought game by both teams," said head coach Dean Koski. "It was a game where both teams had to battle for 118 minutes and neither team gave in. I am pleased with the way we played and Steve Fisher’s goal was of course the highlight of the match."
Fisher, a sophomore transfer from Lebanon Valley College, scored his first goal in a Mountain Hawk uniform and gave Lehigh its second win of the season. Mountain Hawks net minder Ryan Grzeszczak recorded two saves on the evening and picked up the win.
Lehigh returns home to the friendly confines of Ulrich Field on Sunday afternoon to take on Ivy League foe Pennsylvania at 1:00. That game can be heard live on the Internet at www.lehigh.edu.
