Men's Soccer to host No. 24 College of Charleston

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The men’s soccer team returns home Friday night to take on the nationally ranked College of Charleston Cougars at 7 p.m. College Soccer News ranked the Cougars 24th in its latest national poll.This will be game two of a soccer double-header at the Ulrich Sports Complex with the women’s team taking on Virginia Commonwealth at 4 p.m.
The Mountain Hawks will look to keep their offense rolling after they scored a season-high five goals against the Delaware Fightin’ Blue Hens Tuesday night. For the first time all season Lehigh was able to get a first half goal and the Mountain Hawks went on to beat Delaware 5-1. Senior captain Adam Gazda led Lehigh with two goals and sophomore Joe Puleo contributed a goal and an assist.
After Tuesday’s match with Delaware freshman Austin Decker and Gazda are tied for the team lead in goals with two apiece and points with four. Junior keeper Jonathan Nydell boasts a 2-2-1 record and a 1.18 goals against average this season.
Lehigh is currently 2-2-1 and heads into Friday’s matchup looking to beat the Cougars who are undefeated at 5-0 on the season. The College of Charleston is led by seniors Matt Morris and Kareem Yearwood who are tied for the team lead with five points apiece.
This will be the third all time meeting between the two squads with the series record even at 1-1. Lehigh won the last matchup in 2002 defeating the Cougars 2-1. Click on the link above to follow live action of the game.
