Jesse Schram took home the most hardware at the awards ceremony on Sunday, winning both the Athlete of the Year award and Scholar Athlete of the Year Award. The Athlete of the Year Award is presented to the team member who makes the most outstanding athletic contribution to the accomplishments of the team. Schram was a rock for the Mountain Hawks in the midfield, starting all 17 games and being a key for the team on both ends of the field. The junior midfielder scored one goal in 2008 and fired five shots on goal. In his career, Schram has scored six goals and added five assists and been named Second Team All-Patriot League once.
The Scholar Athlete of the Year Award goes to the student-athlete who in the eyes of his/her team mates exemplifies the ideal of the scholar athlete. Schram took home the award thanks to his 3.67 GPA as a psychology major. Earlier in the offseason, Schram was given honorable mention on the All-Mid Atlantic Region Academic Team for his outstanding work both on the field and in the classroom.
Cucci walked away with the Coaches Award for making significant contributions to the well being of the team in terms of attitude, improvement or special leadership. Cucci started 10 games and played in all 17 for the Mountain Hawks at forward this season. He scored his lone goal of the season on the road against eventual National Champion Maryland in a 2-1 overtime defeat.
