Gazda made his mark last week with his work on free kicks for Lehigh. He opened up scoring against the Nittany Lions with a goal from 30 yards out off a free kick that crossed up the
Strunk beat several Army defenders in the box as they leapt in the air for Gazda’s sailing attempt. He used all of his 6-foot-3 frame to get his head on the ball and drive it into the net for the 90th minute goal, giving Lehigh three points it desperately needed in the Patriot League standings.
It was Strunk’s first goal of his career in his fourth start for the Mountain Hawks. With the two goals on Tuesday, Gazda improves his season total to a team-high six scores on the season, and his second assist on Friday moved him into a tie with Jim Taranto for the team lead in points (14).
The Mountain Hawks (7-5-3, 2-1-2) currently sit tied with archrival Lafayette for fourth place in the standings, with eight points in the Patriot League. They return to action on Saturday, November 1, when they host the Bucknell Bison at 7 p.m.
