Mountain Hawks Drop a Pair to Bucknell

Bethlehem, PA – The second doubleheader between Lehigh (13-22, 6-10) and Bucknell (24-15, 12-4) saw Bucknell prevail in both games by scores of 1-0 and 7-0, respectively. The first game was another pitcher’s duel as both Zachary Allen of Bucknell and junior Brian Andalman (0-7) of Lehigh went all seven innings. Allen gave up four hits, no runs, and struck out six, while Andalman gave up five hits, one run, and struck out three. Bucknell’s only run came in the first inning off of a an RBI single by John DiBonaventura. The Mountain Hawks made solid contact with the ball all game but was not able to put any runs on the board. Freshman Jesse Novalis finished 1-for-3 with a double, senior Pat Hollander went 1-for-3, sophomore Matt Yarnold hit 1-for-3, and junior Anthony Piccola went 1-for-2.
In the second game the Mountain Hawks’ luck did not get any better. R.J. Grant of Bucknell allowed only three hits in seven innings while striking out three. The hits for Lehigh came from Piccola who went 2-for-3 with a double, and sophomore Jarrod Niedosik who finished 1-for-3. Junior Jeff Pietrak (2-1) suffered the loss as he gave up five runs in three and one-third innings.
Lehigh next takes on Marist at home on Thursday in a non-conference game scheduled for a 3:30 p.m start.
