BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men’s soccer team will embark on its first real road trip of Patriot League play this weekend when it heads to Worcester, Massachusetts for a game against Holy Cross, Saturday evening at 7 p.m. The Mountain Hawks, 6-5-2 on the season are coming off a 2-1 win over NJIT this past Tuesday which ended their non-league play for the season. Junior captain James Graf scored the game-winning goal which was the first of his career.
Lehigh holds an overall 1-2 Patriot League record which includes two straight overtime losses (Lafayette 1-0, Navy 2-1).
The Mountain Hawks are led by senior Adam Welch who leads the team with 10 points this season. Welch, one of the team’s best defenders, was moved up to forward last game against NJIT to try and provide some spark to the offense. Freshman Austin Decker leads Lehigh with four goals this season.
Holy Cross (3-8) comes into the game on a two-game losing streak. The Crusaders are tied with Lehigh in the Patriot League standings after defeating Colgate for their only league win. Holy Cross is led by freshman Shane Regan who leads the team in goals (2) and points (4). The Crusaders are also backstopped by senior goal keeper Thomas Booth who has two shutouts this season.
The all-time series between Lehigh and Holy Cross is nearly deadlocked with the Crusaders holding an 8-7-6 advantage. The two teams battled to a 0-0 tie last season.
