Lehigh ends the season at home against Colgate

Lehigh received three goals from three different players against the Rams, as the Brown and White brought its record back to .500 on the year. Freshman Matt Thaeder picked up his second goal of the year while Jim Taranto added his fourth of the year and Vincent Devine scored his third goal of the season and of his career to lead Lehigh to victory. With a win Saturday, the Mountain Hawks will finish with a winning record for the 12th consecutive season, adding onto their already impressive Patriot League record.
Colgate is in the midst of its best season in a decade, needing a win and a loss or tie by Holy Cross to clinch its first regular season Patriot League title since 1997. The Raiders have one of the top defenses in the country, led by junior goalkeeper David Cappuccio. Cappuccio ranks 25th in Division I with a 0.836 save percentage and 34th in the country with a 0.757 goals against average. As a team the Raiders are 22nd in Division I in shutouts, averaging 0.5 per game.
This is the 22nd meeting all-time between the schools, with Colgate holding a slight 10-7-4 edge in the series. The Mountain Hawks have owned the series as of lately, with just one loss in the last five meeting, including last year’s 1-0 victory in
This will be the final game for four Lehigh seniors: Co-captain Mike Hessemer, Joe Clemente, Bobby Quinlan and Patrick Starsinic. Lehigh will honor the senior class with a ceremony at halftime.
