BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Patriot League released its all-league selections on Wednesday and three Lehigh players were honored. Sophomore forward Kyle Evans was named to the first team All-Patriot League, and sophomores Jesse Schram and Adam Welch were named to the second team All-Patriot League. It is the first all-league selections for all three players.
Evans followed up his record setting freshman season, with another productive offensive year, leading the Patriot League in points (25), shots (47) and goals (11). His goals and points total were the most by a Lehigh player since the 2000 season.
Evans received two Offensive Player of the Week awards from the Patriot League during the regular season. On September 17, he received his first career award, for his two goal performance against Rutgers and then again on October 8, for his hat trick against Navy.
Schram, a midfielder from Durham, N.H., started all 16 games he played in for the Mountain Hawks, recording one goal on 15 shots for the year. His lone goal came against Patriot League foe Army on October 27. Just 46 seconds into the contest Schram beat Army goalkeeper John Michael Gallogly. The goal proved to be the game-winner, as the Brown and White went on to win the game 2-0.
Welch, a defender from Bethlehem, Pa., started in all 17 games for Lehigh, recording 19 shots and nine shots on goal. On October 29, he received his first career Patriot League award, earning Defensive Player of the Week. He was recognized for his performance against Army, blocking two shots and helping Lehigh secure a shutout.
The Patriot League will announce its major award winners on Thursday evening during the tournament banquet.
