MacIntyre's seven goal effort lifts Lehigh to win

PHILADELPHIA – Behind a seven-goal effort from freshman Sara MacIntyre, including the game-winner with just 39 ticks left, Lehigh snapped its four-game losing streak on Friday evening with a 12-11 victory over St. Joe’s. Fellow freshman Meagan Tenety dished out a game-high four assists for the Brown and White. With the win, the Mountain Hawks improve to 2-4 overall, while the Hawks fall to 1-2.
The Mountain Hawks were out shot 24-23 on the day, but scooped up 20 ground balls to St. Joe’s 13, and forced 17 Hawk turnovers. Senior Kyle Begina got the start in goal for Lehigh and responded with 10 saves in 60 minutes of action, while Sarah Fudin and Caitlin Carney both scooped up three ground balls in the win. St. Joe’s goal keeper Sarah Magan stopped eight Mountain Hawk shots in her 60 minutes in the goal, with Kristina Jaggers scoring a team-high five goals.
St. Joe’s jumped out to a 1-0 lead on the strength of a goal by Kerry O’Connell, but Lissy King came right back and tied the game at one off of a feed from Amy Chamberlain at the 26:45 mark of the opening half. The Mountain Hawks then scored the game’s next five goals to in front 6-1 with

St. Joe’s came out strong in the second half, scoring the first three goals to pull within one score at 8-7 with 18:44 remaining in the contest, but MacIntyre had an answer, scoring back-to-back goals in span of just 58 seconds to put Lehigh back up by three at 10-7 at the 16:29 mark. Jaggers would make the score 10-8 with a goal at the 14:25 mark, but sophomore Christy Smith scored for Lehigh, pushing the lead up to three once again, at 11-8.
The Hawks would not quit though, scoring the game’s next three goals, including one with
Lehigh returns to action on Sunday afternoon as the Mountain Hawks play their third game in five days, playing host to the Lancers of Longwood University. Game time is set for
