Koski, Benn receive regional coaching honors

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh’s men’s soccer coaching staff was honored with two NSCAA/adidas awards as head coach Dean Koski and assistant coach Michael Benn ’96 were selected as the Mid-Atlantic Region’s Coach and Assisant Coach of the Year, respectively. It was the first time either had received regional Coach of the Year honors.

Koski just completed his 15th season leading the Mountain Hawks. In his 15 years, he has compiled an all-time record of 137-106-37 and is the program’s winningest coach. In 2006, the Mountain Hawks won a record 15 games and advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament. Four of his players were named to the All-Region team and two received All-American distinctions, marking the first time since 1931 that Lehigh had two players earn All-American status. Koski earned his third Patriot League Coach of the Year honor after guiding the team to a 7-0 record in Patriot League play.

Benn became the Mountain Hawks’ first full-time assistant coach in 2005 after serving as head coach at East Carolina University for two years. He was a four-year letterwinner at Lehigh from 1992-95, serving as the team’s captain in 1995. Benn received the team’s Scholar-Athlete Award in 1994 and 1995. He was Lehigh’s graduate assistant coach from 1996-99.
