Lehigh to face Rhode Island on Wednesday night

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Patriot League announced its annual preseason indoor track and field polls Monday, with the Lehigh men (58 points) and women (45 points) both picked to finish fifth.
The league’s sports information directors and coaches voted on the poll, selecting Army as the top team on the men’s side and Bucknell on the women’s. The Black Knights received 12 first place votes and had a total of 96 points. The Bison totaled 11 first place votes and received 93 points.
Coming in second on the men’s side is Navy (84 points) with four first place votes. Following the Midshipmen is Bucknell with 75 points and American (70).
On the women’s side Navy also came in second with 89 points and five first place votes. Army (76 points) was voted third followed by Holy Cross (56).
The Mountain Hawks competed in the Navy Invitational this past Saturday and senior Khalil Uqdah had the team’s best showing as he set a new school record in pole vault (16’ 9”). Other successful athletes at the meet included, senior Nick Ray who took first in the shot put, sophomore Kyle Forrest took first in the high jump, and newcomer Brittany Pietrosh finished second in the 800 with a time of 2:20.53.
Lehigh will return to action this Friday January 22 as it hosts the 18th annual John Covert Classic at 5:00 p.m.
