Lehigh keeps it rolling with 20-9 win over Fairfield

Libby Gill got the scoring started for Lehigh at the 28:33 mark, and senior Sarah Starsoneck followed that up with a score of her own at the 24:03 mark to put the Mountain Hawks in front 2-0.
Freshman Christy Smith opened the second half with a goal just 25 seconds in, and Starsoneck added another score at the 27:42 mark to put Lehigh well in front at 11-5. The Mountain Hawks then poured it on, with three more goals in a span of four minutes, and with
Sarah Masterson stopped the bleeding temporarily with a score at the Chalanick scored two goals for Lehigh, while King also scored twice. Vienna Paraon had a great day for the Brown and White, handing out five assists on the afternoon. Lehigh out shot the Stags 40-24 on the afternoon and scooped up 26 groundballs to
Beth Loffredo, Amy Neville and Julia Poll each scored two goals for the Stags, while in goal Kristin Genovese sent back 10 Mountain Hawk shots in 60 minutes of work.
Head Coach Liz Ota, who has yet to lose in her career at Lehigh, was happy with the effort and result on Monday afternoon. “I’m happy with the way we came out and played in the second half. We really took control of the draw controls and created our stint fast break opportunities, which led to a lot of scoring opportunities for us.” Ota continued, “We played hard out there all afternoon and it was just a great team effort. Brittany (Besler) did a nice job for us in goal, giving Kyle a chance to re-focus.
