Lehigh can't complete comeback against Holy Cross

Holy Cross got the scoring going just 16 seconds into the contest as Nikki Bolduc scored off an assist from Kristine Corkum and Lehigh found itself in an early hole. Amy Archambault then made the deficit 2-0 as she took a pass from Eileen Hartigan 6:34 into the opening half. Hartigan and Archambault would add one goal apiece in the next seven minutes and with
Barrie Cominsky got Lehigh on the board 17:40 into the half off of Starsoneck’s first assist of the day, and Amy Chamberlain then sliced the Crusader lead in half off of Starsoneck’s second helper with 7:29 to go in the half. But Carolyn Smirti and Patricia Sutton would each add scores before the half, sending the Mountain Hawks to the locker room down 6-2.
Gill opened the second half scoring just 4:36 in to cut the Holy Cross lead down to three at 6-3, but Archambault scored yet again for the Crusaders and Lehigh was again down four. Sutton added her second score of the day with
Vienna Pharaon handed out an assist for Lehigh on the day, while King led the Mountain Hawks with six shots. Kristen Sherry and Eileen Miller both scooped up three groundballs on the afternoon, while in goal Brittany Bessler got the start and sent back three Crusader shots, before giving way to Kyle Begina, who registered four saves on the afternoon. Lehigh out shot Holy Cross 22-21 for the game, while both teams scooped up 14 ground balls in the contest. The Mountain Hawks did an excellent job of handling the ball, as they turned it over five times, compared to the Crusaders 12.
