BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Senior Adam Williamson, the 2005 Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year, added another line to his soccer resume on Monday, as he was named the South Jersey College Player of the Year by the South Jersey Soccer Coaches Association. This award, which has been given out annually since 1972, is voted on by the South Jersey Coaches Association and is given to a South Jersey High School graduate, that had the best collegiate season and most profound impact over the past year. Williamson becomes the third Lehigh player in history to receive this award, joining Frank Monchak (1973) and Kevin Jackson (1999).
Williamson had a great senior season for the Brown and White, joining Evan Bruno (’00 and ’02) and Andrew Mittendorf (’97 and ’98) as the only other Mountain Hawks in school history to be honored as the league’s Offensive Player of the Year. Despite drawing the opposition’s best defender on most nights, the New Jersey native still managed to score six goals, including two game-winners, and handed out five assists this season. For his career, Williamson netted 12 goals, handed out 15 assists, and totaled 39 points. Williamson is a two-time All-League selection, and was an All-Region pick in 2004.
Williamson helped lead Lehigh to a number-18 national ranking in mid-October and a spot in the Mid-Atlantic Regional top-ten for the entire season. After scoring the game-winning goal versus previously unbeaten and nationally ranked Binghamton, “Willie” earned himself a spot on the College Soccer News Team of the Week on September 19. The Mountain Hawks qualified for their sixth consecutive Patriot League Tournament this season and posted a school and Patriot League record tenth consecutive winning season with a final record of 10-4-2.
