Lehigh sweeps Patriot League weekly awards

Bethlehem, PA – One day after claiming the championship in the Lehigh Soccer Classic, the Mountain Hawks made it a clean sweep of the Patriot League men’s soccer weekly awards for the week ending September 19th.

Adam Williamson was named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week after tallying a goal and an assist in the two-day tournament. The junior midfielder scored the overtime game winner as the Mountain Hawks beat Jacksonville 1-0, Friday night.

Senior goalkeeper Sam Bishop posted a pair of shutouts en route to Defensive Player of the Week honors. Bishop made four saves on the weekend and anchors a defense that has not yielded a goal in its last three matches.

For the second consecutive week freshman Patrick Starsinic garnered Rookie of the Week honors. After scoring two goals in his first three matches Starsinic assisted on Williamson’s overtime game winner on Friday night and scored his third goal of the season in Sunday’s 4-0 win over Saint Joseph’s.

Lehigh is off to a 4-1 start this season. The Mountain Hawks return to action on Wednesday afternoon when they visit Towson at 4:00.
