Lehigh sends seniors out on a high note

Sarah Starsoneck got the scoring started for Lehigh as she hit the back of the net at the 25:46 mark of the first half, and Lehigh was ahead 1-0. Monmouth answered right back as Kate Hanna snuck a ball past Begina to tie the game at one, and that was followed up by another score by Laura Levins to put the Hawks in front 2-1. The Mountain Hawks then reeled off four consecutive goals, as Emily Studdiford, Kellan Van Hoesen, and Starsoneck scored in the last nine minutes of the half to send Lehigh into the locker room ahead 4-2.

It appeared as though Lehigh had lost momentum and its grasp of the game, but on this senior day, the Mountain Hawks would not be denied. Head Coach Jim Shreve was happy to send his seniors out on a winning note. “We lost a little momentum there for a bit, but we fought back and were able to control the game in the end.” Shreve continues, “I told the team before the game that this was for the seniors and I told them that again after the game. Our offense played well and Kyle was unbelievable in goal today.”
