Roach named player of the week

Bethlehem, PA – Senior center back Wes Roach was named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts over the past seven days, which included anchoring a defense that shut out both of its opponents, Drexel and Holy Cross. Roach has been a model of consistency in his time at Lehigh, having started all 69 games in his career.
Lehigh’s defense has been outstanding all season long, and currently ranks first in the Patriot League with a .33 goals against average and a .78 shutout percentage. This is in large part due to Roach, as he continually helps stifle opponents in keeping the opposition out of Lehigh’s zone and limiting their shots and scoring opportunities.
Head Coach Dean Koski feels as though this honor has been a long time coming. "When you’re the center back, it’s easy to get lost in terms of notoriety," Koski says, "I think that this award is two or three years late, but Wes is the anchor of our defense and it’s nice to see him getting some recognition."
Lehigh (6-1-2), ranked sixth in the Mid-Atlantic Region, returns to action on Saturday when the Mountain Hawks travel to Washington, D.C. to take on Patriot League foe American. Game time is set for 3:00.
