GETTING TO KNOW JAMIE
Nickname: Jim/ Jimmy / Jimbo
Why did you choose Lehigh? I fell in love with the beauty of the campus, specifically the mountains at goodman and the old academic buildings. On top of the aesthetic, as soon as I met Coach Deb I knew that it would be a good fit because she was so kind and incredibly easy to talk to. Lehigh also was perfect for my major because it is one of the only schools in the US that has its own department of international relations. All in all, it was a great fit academically and athletically and it made me feel like home.
What’s your favorite thing about Lehigh? I love how our entire team feels like a family. We work so well together and we all get along and it’s a great environment to be a part of.
Thoughts on Lehigh Coaching Staff (Coach Matt Utesch and/or others): Coach Deb is the most detail-oriented and passionate coach that I have ever met. She cares about each and every one of her athletes, no matter if it's running or life-related. I can rely on her for literally anything and I know she will be there for me.
Major & Why: Double: International Relations and Spanish and Hispanic Studies: I chose to double major because of the deep cultural elements that intrigued me. Someday I want to be able to travel the world and speak other languages fluently and learn about other cultures.
Favorite Place on Campus: Linderman Special Collections Room
Favorite Food: Sushi
Favorite Color: pickle green
Favorite Musical Artist: Milky Chance
Favorite Movie: Good Will Hunting
Favorite TV Show: Parks and Rec
Favorite Website: www.Netflix.com
Favorite Pro Team: Tinman Elite
Favorite Athlete In Another Sport: Muhammad Ali
Favorite place to study: LIT Coffee Roastery & Bakeshop
Favorite thing to do on a rainy day: Go to a café and pretend to read a book while people watching
Hobbies: Going to cafés and drinking cool coffees, going hiking, going shopping, reading, painting my nails while watching a bad romcom
Magazine Cover I'd Like To Be On: Runner’s World
Place I'd Like To Visit: Spain
Talent I’d Most Like To Have: Be musical in some way
Dream Job: World Coffee-Tasting Traveler
One unique thing no one knows about me: I won a spoken word (slam poetry) contest in high school and then forgot all the words to all my poems at the regional competition.
If I Didn't Run Track and Field, I Would Play: Tennis
If I Had $1 Billion, I Would: Travel with my friends and give my parents their dream life living in a mansion on the beach and then donate my time and money to different refugee resettlement organizations.
