PHILADELPHIA – The Lehigh baseball team dropped a 15-2 decision to Penn in seven innings Wednesday afternoon at Meiklejohn Stadium. The Quakers notched 13 hits and capitalized off of eight walks and three Lehigh errors.

Seniors Owen Walewander and Ryan Davis drove in runs for the Mountain Hawks, who managed five hits against Quaker pitching.

The loss drops Lehigh to 5-13 while Penn improves to 4-10.

Gavin Degnan went 2-for-4 with five RBIs to lead Penn.

The Quakers scored the game's first six runs, plating two in the first, three in the second and one in the third.

Walewander singled home junior Jasper Adelman in the fifth to put Lehigh on the board, and the following inning saw Davis double to the gap in left center, scoring Max Dantoni.

Penn used an eight-run sixth inning to put the game out of reach.

Three of Lehigh's five hits were doubles, with senior Aidan Quinn and sophomore Ian Wirtz joining Davis. Senior Dom Patrizi drew two walks, while Adelman reached twice via a walk and a hit by pitch.

Lehigh used seven pitchers Wednesday, with senior Brandon Coughlin starting and taking the loss after giving up two first inning runs.

The Mountain Hawks will resume Patriot League play this weekend when they host Holy Cross for a three-game series at J. David Walker Field. A doubleheader is set for Saturday at noon followed by a single game Sunday at 1 p.m.
