Mountain Hawks Drop Game Two To Navy 3-0

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh baseball play game two of its weekend series against the Navy Midshipmen at J. David Walker Field on Saturday afternoon. After earning a 3-1 win in game one, the Mountain Hawks fell 3-0 to even the series 1-1.
Navy (13-5, 1-1 PL) starter Matt Archibald earned the win after going 8.0 complete innings with nine strikeouts, five hits, and three walks while Tyler Grenn picked up the save. Lehigh (4-11, 1-1 PL) starter Cole Leaman was credited with the loss after allowing two earned runs with three strikeouts in 3.2 innings pitched.
Archibald and Leaman traded scoreless innings through the first and second frames. The Mids brought home a run in the top of the third on an RBI from Andrew Manning to take a 1-0 lead. A Tyler Cripe RBI in the top of the fourth inning extended Navy's lead to two through four innings.
Max Treonze entered the game for Lehigh in the fourth inning and performed admirably, keeping the Mids off the board in the fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth innings. Navy added a run of insurance in the top of the ninth on an RBI from Joh Loudon before Jake Mulvehill recorded the final out to send the game to the bottom of the ninth. The Mountain Hawks got two baserunners aboard, but Grenn recorded the outs necessary to secure his save and the Navy victory.
Robbie Carvelli went 2-4 with a double while Aidan Quinn, Ryan Cochran, Owen Walewander, Trystan Crawford, and Jack Frankovic also secured hits for Lehigh.
The Mountain Hawks will conclude the weekend series with the Midshipmen on Sunday, March 15 at 12 p.m. at J. David Walker Field.
