Morgan Wins Patriot League Rookie of the Week; Mountain Hawks Set to Face Iona Tomorrow in New Rochelle, N.Y.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh first-year attacker Finn Morgan was named Patriot League Men's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
In his collegiate debut, Finn Morgan scored a game-high six goals, including five in the second half, and added an assist in the Mountain Hawks' 14-13 double overtime season-opening loss to Fairfield.
Lehigh Set to Visit Iona
Lehigh travels to New Rochelle, N.Y., to take on Iona tomorrow, with the opening faceoff scheduled for 1 p.m.
Lehigh enters its game against Iona 0-1 on the season following a double overtime loss to Fairfield on Friday night.
Morgan led the way for Lehigh with six goals, including five in the second half. Luke Winkler and Luke Breslin each added two goals, while Peter Debusschere, Grant Rodny, and Jack Archer also scored. Lehigh's balanced attack fueled a fourth-quarter comeback that gave the Mountain Hawks a 13-12 lead before they fell 14-13 in double overtime.
On the defensive end, the preseason All-Patriot League senior duo of Richard Checo and Luke McAuliffe combined for six caused turnovers. Checo was credited with four, leaving him just 11 shy of the Division I all-time record for caused turnovers.
Connor Riley handled the faceoffs for the Mountain Hawks Friday night, winning 15 and collecting seven ground balls. In goal, Kasey Heath made 10 saves against Fairfield's shots.
The Iona Gaels enter the season at 0-2 after losses to Hofstra and Navy. The program is just in its second year, following a 2-13 overall record and 1-7 mark in MAAC play last season.
