BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Fairleigh Dickinson University defeated Lehigh Saturday morning 4-3 at the Lewis Indoor Tennis Courts.
"We did our job in doubles and gave ourselves a chance," head coach Sophia Geier said. "In singles, FDU didn't let up and consistently made one more ball, and that was the difference today. It was a close 4-3 loss that showed how small the margins are."
Lehigh opened the match by sweeping all three doubles courts to secure the doubles point. Maggie Forkner and Hannah Lezter earned a 6-1 victory at No. 1 doubles. At No. 2, Lena Dogadalski and Giselle Vlassis picked up their first win as a duo this season with a 7-6 decision, while Skye Yonehara and Audrey Harrington also posted a 7-6 win at No. 3 doubles. The three victories clinched the doubles point for the Mountain Hawks.
As for Singles action, Vlassis earned a 6-1, 7-6 win over Yelena Kim on court three. On court six, Alice Ann Pantsari won her match over Ann Kato 6-1, 7-6. FDU won the remaining singles matches to win the match 4-3.Â
