Nolan Nets Five In Season Opener

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh kicked off the 2026 campaign with a hard-fought 11-10 loss to Saint Joseph's on Friday afternoon.
Shannon Nolan led the Mountain Hawks with a career-high five goals, while Molly Snow tallied four points from one goal and three assists.
"We battled against a very talented Saint Joe's team, and I am so proud of the fight and resiliency that our team showed," said head coach Steph Lazo after her first game with the Brown and White. "Today's game laid a solid foundation for us to build upon and I'm looking forward to how we bounce back next weekend versus Loyola."
Saint Joseph's started off with a 4-0 lead after the first quarter, as Kate Fuhrman led the way with two goals.
The Hawks added another goal, before Grace Martel put Lehigh on the board, as Saint Joseph's led 5-1.
Saint Joseph's responded with two goals, then Nolan tallied her first of the game, spurring a three-goal run. Kacie Wines and Chloe DelNegro scored their first goals of the season as Saint Joseph's led 7-4 at intermission.
The Hawks scored their first goal of the second half at 11:24, before Molly Snow responded with a player-up goal as Lehigh trailed 8-5 with just over 10 minutes left in the third period.
Lehigh maintained momentum, as both Wines and Nolan scored their second goals of the game, bringing the Mountain Hawks within one as they trailed 8-7.
Saint Joseph's broke up the run, as Megan Sanelli completed the hat trick with 6:01 remaining in the third period. Nolan answered by completing her own hat trick, but the Hawks held a 9-8 advantage at the end of the third.
Sanelli struck again for the Hawks, as her fourth goal put Saint Joseph's up 10-8 within the first minute of the final period.
Nolan continued having a day, responding with back-to-back goals as Lehigh tied it up 10-10 at 9:41 remaining in the contest. With 2:02 on the clock, Saint Joseph's scored a free position goal and held on to win 11-10.
Martel led the way in draw controls with five, while Nolan paced Lehigh with four groundballs.
First-year Micaela Jennings recorded 15 saves in her first collegiate start. Saint Joseph's Liana Moli recorded nine saves.
Lehigh (0-1) opens Patriot League play next Saturday as it hosts Loyola at 12 p.m. at the Ulrich Sports Complex.
