BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Friday afternoon, Delaware defeated Lehigh 7-0 at the Lewis Indoor Tennis Center. With the loss, Lehigh slides to 3-7 on the season. With the win, the Blue Hens improve to 6-2 on their season.Â
"Credit to University of Delaware, they did a really good job of raising their level in the big moments and closing out matches when they had the opportunity," head coach Sophia Geier said. "Even though the score doesn't show it, I felt like we were competing hard on every court and putting ourselves in position to take points. That's encouraging. The difference today was just that extra notch in key moments, and that's something we're capable of learning from and improving."
The Delaware Blue Hens secured the doubles point with victories on Courts 1 and 2, then swept all six singles matches to earn a 7-0 win.
At No. 3 singles, Giselle Vlassis won the opening set against Amelia Gorman, but Gorman rallied to claim the next two sets and win the match in three, helping Delaware complete the sweep.
