Lehigh Falls In Series Finale At #22 Miami

Miami (3-0) starting pitcher Tate DeRias earned the win after striking out nine batters while allowing three earned runs in 4.1 innings of work. Lehigh (0-3) starter Shane O'Neill was credited with the loss after making his first appearance since 2024.
O'Neill retired the Canes in four batters in his first action since May of 2024 and closed the inning with a looking strikeout of Miami's Alex Sosa. Miami's offense got going in the bottom of the second, using two RBI singles and a sac-fly to take a 4-0 lead through two innings.
Lehigh cut the Miami lead in half in the top of the third, as Raffaele Rogers delivered a two-run homer to left field to set the score at 4-2. Jake Mulvehill entered the game on the mound in the bottom of the frame and escaped a bases loaded jam to keep Lehigh within two runs after three.
The Canes extended their lead to six runs in the fourth after adding four more thanks to a Max Galvin RBI double, two-RBI homer from Daniel Cuvet and RBI groundout from Cian Copeland. The Mountain Hawks got a run back in the top of the fifth on an RBI double from Aidan Quinn, bringing Lehigh within five at 8-3. Miami's offense then took off in the fifth and sixth innings, scoring a combined 19 runs to put the game out of reach.
Quinn finished the day going 2-2 with a double, an RBI, and a walk. Rogers, Trystan Crawford, and Max Dantoni also recorded hits for Lehigh.
Brandon Coughlin, Cole Kochanowicz, Jackson Shepelsky, David Andolina and Max Treonze also appeared on the mound for Lehigh in addition to O'Neill and Mulvehill.
The Mountain Hawks return to action next weekend on February 20-22 for a three-game series against George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
