ANN ARBOR, Mich - The Lehigh Mountain Hawks defeated No. 18 Michigan Saturday afternoon, 14-13. With the win, Lehigh improves to 2-1 on the season. The Wolverines fall to 3-1. The win was Lehigh's first over a ranked team this season. Last year, Lehigh was 1-2 against ranked opponents.Â
This afternoon, Lehigh's offensive attack was balanced. Colin French, Luke Winkler, and Finn Morgan each scored three times in the win. Seven Mountain Hawks dished out assists, with Winkler leading the team with two.Â
Six Mountain Hawks caused a turnover in the win. Senior Richard Checo caused two, and picked up a ground ball. Checo now has 11 caused turnovers on the season, just three away from breaking the Division I record for caused turnovers.
In net for Lehigh was once again Kasey Heath who had nine saves in this second win of the season.Â
Junior Connor Riley dominated the faceoff X for the Mountain Hawks he won 17 of 26 faceoffs and picked up 10 ground balls.Â
The first quarter was dominated by the Mountain Hawks. Colin French opened the scoring, putting Lehigh in front less than a minute into the contest. A little over a minute later, Luke Breslin found the back of the net. Later in the period, with Lehigh ahead 4-0 French scored again, giving the Mountain Hawks a 5-0 1st quarter lead.Â
Nick Roode opened the scoring in the second qauarter for Michgian. Roode along with Luke Shannehan both scored three times which led the Wolverines. Finn Morgan responded immediately. Morgan's second goal of the afternoon gave Lehigh a 6-1 advantage early in the second period. Michigan scored five of the final six goals in the first half, with ahead 7-5 at the half.Â
Michigan was able to work back and eventually tie the score at eight with nine minutes left in the third quarter. Peter Debusschere put Lehigh back in front before Michigan scored two straight to end the period ahead 10-9.
Luke Winkler and Hunter Polonkey fired two quick goals early in the fourth quarter allowing the Mountain Hawks to retake the lead. The Wolverines quickly responded with two straight of their own to take the lead right back.Â
Later in the fourth with Lehigh trailing 13-12, Jack Archer riffled a shot in the back of the net to tie the game at 13. Then, with a little over four minutes remaining, Andrew Kelly found Peter Theodoropoulos for the game winning goal.Â

Next Saturday, Lehigh will take on No. 8 Richmond in Virginia. The first faceoff is set for 1 p.m.Â
