Lind Leads the Way With 23 as Lehigh Soars Past the Eagles

WASHINGTON - Lehigh defeated American 79-51Wednesday evening. With the win, the Mountain Hawks remain in third place in the Patriot League at 9-4 and improve to 13-10 overall. American falls to 4-9 in league play and 6-18 overall.
Lehigh tied its season high with 14 made 3-pointers, shooting 43% from beyond the arc. Whitney Lind led the Mountain Hawks, going 5-for-6 from 3-point range and finishing with 23 points. Lind has scored in double figures in eight straight games, including 17 or more in three consecutive contests.
Alana Reddy and Belle Bramer each made three 3-pointers. Bramer went 3-for-5 from beyond the arc and finished with 14 points, while Reddy shot 3-for-6 from 3-point range and added 13 points.
Lily Fandre finished with 15 points and has now scored in double figures in 16 of her last 17 games.
Lehigh started the game on fire, knocking down four of its first seven 3-point attempts to build a 24-12 lead after one quarter. Lind hit two 3-pointers in the opening period, while Bramer added six points to help the Mountain Hawks build their advantage.
Lehigh's hot shooting continued in the second quarter, as the Mountain Hawks shot 50% from the field and 60% from 3-point range. A 14-3 run to close the half, fueled by nine points from Lind, helped extend the lead to 44-24 at the break. Lind finished the first half with 20 points.
The third quarter brought more of the same for the Mountain Hawks. Lind knocked down her fifth 3-pointer of the night, setting a new career high in made 3s.
Myrto Lianoudi, Gracyn Lovette, Belle Bramer and Alana Reddy also connected from beyond the arc in the period, helping Lehigh build a commanding 66-40 lead after three quarters.
Lehigh maintained its large lead in the fourth quarter, cruising to a 79-51 win. The margin of victory marks the second time this season the Mountain Hawks have defeated a Patriot League opponent by more than 25 points.
