Lehigh Tops Monmouth 6-1 in Season Opener

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh women's tennis opened its 2026 spring season with a 6-1 victory over Monmouth Saturday at the Lewis Tennis Center. The Mountain Hawks swept the doubles matches and then won five of six singles matches to win their spring season opener for the first time since 2022.

"The energy was great today," head coach Sophia Geier said. "Our group came out focused, connected and ready to compete. We played pretty clean tennis and did a good job executing our game plans across every court."

Doubles play began with a win from sophomores Alina Shyani and Ronit Khromcheko at the No. 3 flight, with first-year Lena Dogadalski and junior Hannah Letzer winning 6-1 over Ximena Cano and Hana McKinney at the No. 1 flight. Junior Audrey Harrington and sophomore Skye Yonehara completed the doubles sweep with a 6-4 win at No. 2.

Junior Giselle Vlassis started singles play off with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Pavitra Parikh at No. 2 and Dogadalski made her debut in the No. 1 position with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over McKinney.

Monmouth scored its lone point with a win at No. 3 singles, but first-year Alice Ann Pantsari clinched the match for the Mountain Hawks with a 7-6, 6-1 victory over Cano at No. 4.

Harrington lost just two games against Jillian Gray at No. 6 and Yonehara defeated Rebecca Fisher at No. 5 winning a third-set 10-point tiebreak.

The Mountain Hawks are back home next Saturday to host Rider at 10 a.m. inside the Lewis Tennis Center.
