No. 20 Lehigh Rolls Past Princeton 30-9 For Fourth Straight Win

1/18/2026 4:36:00 PM | Men's Wrestling

PRINCETON, N.J. – No. 20 Lehigh went on the road and picked up its fourth straight win as the Mountain Hawks took down Princeton 30-9 Sunday at Jadwin Gym. The Mountain Hawks won seven bouts, including three bonus-point victories. Graduate student JT Davis clinched the dual with a fall at 197, while senior Max Brignola picked up a bonus point win in a top 12 showdown at 165.

With its fourth straight win Lehigh improves to 7-6 on the dual season.

Lehigh's three returning All-Americans once again staked the Mountain Hawks to an early lead.

At 125, graduate student Sheldon Seymour edged Marc-Anthony McGowan 2-0 in a top 15 battle. The only two points came from Seymour escapes in the first and second periods, the first of which came after a McGowan injury timeout. In the final seconds of the third period, McGowan secured what appeared to be the winning takedown, but after a Lehigh challenge, it was determined he attacked before the whistle, resulting in a caution, not a takedown. Seymour successfully defended the final seven seconds to win.

A 5-1 decision by sophomore Ryan Crookham over Dan Jones at 133 was followed by a 19-3 technical fall by sophomore Luke Stanich over Matthew Martino at 141. Stanich led 9-2 after two and added two more takedowns and a four-point near fall to end the match at 5:52.

Princeton picked up back-to-back wins at 149 and 157 to pull within 11-6 at intermission. Junior Owen Reinsel scored the first takedown against No. 11 Eligh Rivera before Rivera rallied to claim a 7-5 decision. Rocco Camillaci won a one-takedown 4-3 decision over sophomore Griffin Gonzalez at 157.

Coming out of the break, 10th-ranked Brignola dominated No. 12 Ty Whalen in a 15-3 major decision. Brignola scored two first period takedowns and added two more in the third, plus a second period escape, penalty point and riding time.

Princeton claimed its third and final win at 174 as Holden Garcia rallied past sophomore Richie Grungo for an 8-4 decision.

An 8-2 decision by junior Rylan Rogers over Xavier Giles at 184 put Lehigh up 18-9 with two bouts remaining.

Davis dominated Gabe Garibaldi, striking for two takedowns and a four-point near fall in the first period before putting the Tiger on his back and securing the fall at 2:29.

Princeton forfeited to Nathan Taylor at heavyweight.

The Mountain Hawks will be off from competition next weekend and will return to action at EIWA rival Army West Point, Sunday, Feb. 1 at 2 p.m.

The 2025-26 Lehigh wrestling season is presented by the Historic Hotel Bethlehem.
