No. 20 Lehigh Takes Down Army 29-11 For Fifth Straight Dual Win

WEST POINT, N.Y. – No. 20 Lehigh went on the road and picked up its fifth straight dual win as the Mountain Hawks downed Army West Point 29-11 Sunday at Christl Arena. The Mountain Hawks won seven of the 10 bouts, scoring bonus points in five of those wins, to improve to 3-0 in EIWA duals and 8-6 overall.

Graduate student Sheldon Seymour started things off with an 11-2 major decision over Charlie Farmer at 125. Seymour led 7-2 late in the third period when he scored a takedown on the edge at the buzzer to secure the bonus point.

Army West Point (2-5) picked up its first win at 133 as Ethan Berginc won an 11-1 major decision over Mason Ziegler to tie the dual at 4-4.

From there, the Mountain Hawks went on a 4-0 run to go up 22-4, taking control of the dual.

Sophomore Luke Stanich started the run with a 22-5 technical fall over Braden Basile in a matchup of ranked wrestlers at 141. Stanich recorded seven takedowns with the final one ending the match at 5:33.

At 149, sophomore Matt Repos made his first dual appearance of the season and held off Conor Collins 8-7. Repos locked up an early cradle to lead 6-0 and had to hold off a late Collins charge, with riding time advantage ultimately being the difference in Repos' favor.

Making his first dual appearance since December, sophomore Logan Rozynski posted a 15-1 major decision over Joseph Antonio at 157. Rozynski scored takedowns in the second and then early in the third periods and then used a headlock to put Antonio on his back for seven points in the last 30 seconds to secure the major, as Lehigh led 16-4 at intermission.
Ninth-ranked senior Max Brignola faced No. 15 Gunner Filipowicz at 165. Filipowicz struck early for a takedown and two point near fall to lead 5-1 early before Brignola began his comeback. A second period reversal and then a Brignola takedown tied the match at 6-6 after two. Brignola cut Filipowicz loose to begin the third and immediately grabbed an ankle, taking Filipowicz to his back for a in important fall at the 5:34 mark.
Army stopped the Lehigh run at 174 as Cooper Haase road an early seven-point move to a 16-3 major decision over sophomore Zeke Dubler.

Junior Rylan Rogers clinched the dual for the Mountain Hawks with Lehigh's fifth bonus point win, a 15-4 major decision over Dave Barrett at 184.

At 197, graduate student JT Davis battled to a 4-1 sudden victory decision over Wolfgang Frable. The match was tied 1-1 through regulation with Davis getting hold of a leg in the final minute of sudden victory and eventually gaining control on the edge of the match.
The Black Knights claimed the final bout at 285 as Brady Colbert defeated senior Nathan Taylor 8-1. Colbert took a 3-1 lead with a second period takedown and ride and added a second takedown off a desperation Taylor shot late.

The Mountain Hawks will return to action Friday at Morgan State. Match time is set for 6 p.m. from Baltimore.
