BETHLEHEM, Pa. – A tight battle is always expected when Lehigh and Navy meet on the mat and Saturday was no exception. In a dual that came down to overtime at 285, a sudden victory decision for senior Nathan Taylor lifted 20th-ranked Mountain Hawks to a 20-15 victory over the Midshipmen inside Leeman-Turner Arena at Grace Hall.

After initiating a shot, Taylor got behind Spencer Lanosga with just over a minute remaining in the sudden victory period to secure the 4-1 decision. It was the sixth bout win for the Mountain Hawks, who had just one bonus point win against Navy.

Lehigh wins its third straight dual overall to even its record at 6-6 as the Mountain Hawks improve to 2-0 in EIWA duals.

The Lehigh trio of returning All-Americans staked the Mountain Hawks to an early 9-0 lead. Graduate student Sheldon Seymour won a 5-2 decision over Andrew Binni at 125 behind a first period takedown. Sophomore Ryan Crookham followed with a 7-3 decision over Brendan Ferretti at 133, with Crookham scoring takedowns in each of the first two periods. Sophomore Luke Stanich closed things out with an 8-4 decision over Caedyn Ricciardi at 141. Stanich led 4-0 after beating the second period buzzer for a takedown. Ricciardi came back with an escape and takedown to briefly tie the match at 4-4. After being cut loose to go ahead 5-4, Stanich scored a takedown late to secure the victory.

Navy came back with two consecutive wins to trim Lehigh's lead to 9-7 at intermission. Kaemen Smith edged junior Owen Reinsel 6-2 at 149 and then Jonathan Ley won an 11-2 major decision over first-year Jadon Skellenger at 157. Skellenger was making his first dual appearance of the season.

Senior Max Brignola delivered Lehigh's lone bonus win of the dual. Brignola secured his third consecutive victory via technical fall, defeating Dylan Elmore 22-6 in 6:16. He totaled seven takedowns, scoring two in each of the first two periods and then three in the third.

Navy answered with a tech fall of its own as ninth-ranked Danny Wask won 18-2 in 3:57 over first-year Dom Federici at 174 to cut Lehigh's lead to 14-12 with three bouts remaining.

Junior Rylan Rogers gave Lehigh a five-point cushion with two bouts remaining as he made a late first period takedown stand in a 4-1 win over Gage Yackee at 184.

The Midshipmen battled back within 17-15 after nine bouts as Zyan Hall edged graduate student JT Davis 2-1 in tiebreakers at 197. Hall and Davis were 1-1 through regulation and sudden victory. Both wrestlers rode out their respective halves of the tiebreakers, with a penalty point for locked hands against Davis providing the decisive point.

The Mountain Hawks are back in action Sunday at Princeton with match time set for 2 p.m. from Jadwin Gym in New Jersey. The match will be broadcast on ESPN+.
