Incoming First-Year Krazer Wins Gold At Grand Prix Of Spain With Marquez In Corner

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh incoming first-year Aubre Krazer won a gold medal at the Senior-level Grand Prix of Spain, July 5 in Madrid. Krazer went 4-0 to take the top spot at 59 kg. She was one of four athletes competing in the event, which served as a tune-up for next month's U20 World Championships in Bulgaria. Lehigh head coach Brazel Marquez served as the coach for the four-woman USA contingent in women's freestyle.
An Easton, Pa., product, Krazer began her tournament with a win by fall over Elvira Martinez-Barquero Zarco of Spain and continued with a pair of technical fall victories over Julia Nowicka (Poland) and Othelie Hoie (Norway). In the finals, Krazer earned a 2-1 decision over Jowita Wrzesien from Poland, a 2022 World bronze medalist and 2020 Olympian.
Krazer is one of three Lehigh women's wrestlers who will represent the United States at the U20 World Championships. Rising sophomore Audrey Jimenez (50 kg) and incoming first-year Abbi Cooper (53 kg) will also compete in Sofia, Bulgaria, Aug. 18-24. Jimenez will also compete in the Senior and U23 World Championships later this year.
