Walewander Selected To Academic All-Patriot League Team

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Patriot League announced its Scholar-Athlete of the Year and Academic All-Patriot League Baseball Team on Thursday morning. Junior catcher Owen Walewander was selected to the Academic All-Patriot League Team.
Walewander currently holds a 3.55 cumulative GPA while studying accounting at Lehigh. He is a two-time Patriot League Honor Roll recipient, five-time Faculty Athletics Council Award (over a 3.2 GPA) and three-time Deans List selection (over a 3.6 GPA).
Walewander is enjoying a great season for the Mountain Hawks from the catcher position, batting a career-best .299 on 38 hits with 24 RBIs, 23 runs scored, eight doubles and two home runs. Defensively, Walewander posts a .967 fielding percentage while having thrown out 12 baserunners from the catcher position.
The Mountain Hawks will face the Holy Cross Crusaders in the semifinal round of the Patriot League Championship from May 10-11. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 10.
