
Lehigh Rolls to 22nd Straight Win over Lafayette with Sweep

EASTON, Pa. – Lehigh women's tennis extended its dominance over rival Lafayette with a 5-0 sweep Friday afternoon in Easton, marking the Mountain Hawks' second straight sweep and 22nd consecutive victory over the Leopards.
"I'm happy with how we played today," said head coach Sophia Geier. "We came out with great focus and took care of business from start to finish. It was a complete performance, and we handled the moment exactly how we needed to. Now it's time to lock in and get ready—we're excited for the opportunity to compete for a Patriot League championship next weekend."
With the win, Lehigh improves to 11-7 overall and 4-3 in Patriot League play, while Lafayette drops to 6-11 (1-4 PL).
The Mountain Hawks started strong, sweeping all three doubles matches to secure the opening point. Ronit Khromchenko and Alina Shyani cruised to a 6-0 win, followed by Maggie Forkner and Hannah Letzer clinching the doubles point with a 6-3 victory at the No. 1 spot. Audrey Harrington and Hamsa Javagal rounded out doubles play with a 6-4 win.
In singles, Khromchenko got things rolling again, earning a straight-set 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 6. Giselle Vlassis followed with a dominant 6-1, 6-1 performance at No. 4. Shyani and Allyce Gaborik then clinched the match for Lehigh, both finishing simultaneously to secure the 5-0 victory.
Before play was halted, Forkner led 6-4, 3-2 at No. 1 singles, and Javagal was up 6-4, 5-1 at No. 2.
Up next, Lehigh heads to the Patriot League Tournament, which runs April 24–27 at Colgate.
