3/6/2025 2:39:00 PM | Men's Lacrosse

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh men's lacrosse will open Patriot League play on Friday at Navy, with the game scheduled for 6 p.m. The Mountain Hawks are looking to extend their momentum after a 10-7 win over Villanova on February 28. This will be Lehigh's first nationally televised game of the season, as it will air live on CBS Sports Network.

Lehigh enters the game with a 1-4 record, while Navy comes in at 4-1 (1-0 PL). The Mountain Hawks' defense stood out in their victory over Villanova. After falling behind 3-0 to start the game, Lehigh fought back to trail by just one, 6-5, at halftime.

In the second half, Lehigh finished strong with a 5-1 run, holding Villanova scoreless for more than 32 minutes to secure the 11-6 win. Sophomore goalkeeper Kasey Heath earned Patriot League Honorable Mention recognition for his stellar performance, recording a game-high 16 saves and a career-best 69% save percentage.

Heath has posted double-digit saves in all five of Lehigh's games this season. He currently ranks first in the NCAA in saves per game (15.80) and 13th in save percentage (59%).

Junior defender Richard Checo had a standout performance, causing three turnovers against Villanova. He is ranked ninth in the NCAA in caused turnovers per game (2.40) and has forced multiple turnovers in four of Lehigh's five games.

On the offensive side, senior attackman Andrew Kelly (3G, 1A) and first-year attackman Luke Breslin (1G, 3A) led the Mountain Hawks with four points apiece. Breslin has had a strong start to his collegiate career, leading the team with 12 points (5G, 7A). Senior midfielder Dakota Eierman follows with 11 points (9G, 2A), and Kelly ranks third in scoring with eight goals and two assists.

Navy is coming off a 13-9 win over Boston University on March 1. The Midshipmen built an 11-1 lead and held on for the victory. Jack Flaherty led Navy with six points (3G, 3A). Both Flaherty (8G, 6A) and William Goers (8G, 6A) lead the team with 14 points each.

In goal, Dan Daly has started all five games for Navy, recording 53 saves and a 54.6% save percentage.

Lehigh holds a 15-33 all-time record against Navy but has won the last nine matchups. Friday's game marks a rematch of the 2024 Patriot League semifinal, where the Mountain Hawks cruised to a 12-8 victory. In that game, Checo set an NCAA single-game record with eight caused turnovers.

Next up, Lehigh will host Army on March 15 at 12 p.m. at the Ulrich Sports Complex.
